Day 235

Tonya is one of my best friends and the teacher I want to become.  Today I met with her to go over curriculum for a class she created and I taught for a year; she'll be teaching it next year and I'll be going on to another school due to budget cuts in Tonya's district.

Day 205: Gutted

Very confused as to why the previous owner had no wall behind their medicine cabinet.  Wall safe?

This is our only bathroom, so as we remodel it, any visitors over the next three to four weeks will have to use the pit toilet I dug out back . . .

Day 173: Shameless Self-Promotion

Self portrait for my employment portfolio to give at interviews.  (I was recently laid off as a 6-12 language arts/reading/social studies teacher.  Are you hiring?)

Day 31 (Make-up)

I've missed a few days in the past week.  (My excuse is that I got sick, and while I did have time off work, I spent the majority of it sleeping.)  I've decided to add a rule for myself to deal with this.  For every day I miss, I have to take three pictures of different subjects to make up that day.  They still be dated for the day I missed.

Introduction

For Christmas (and birthday), my partner (in conjunction with her parents, my parents, and her brother and sister-in-law) got me an SLR camera, a tripod, and a book to learn how to use it.

Taking a little hike out in Westminster, I found this new hobby helped me take a break, but rather than using the break to ponder the thing I'm supposed to be taking a break from, my mind is engaged in the creative process of photography.  It was an incredibly relaxing experience.

Hence the photo a day project.  The goal is to take at least one photo each day this year and post it here.  The practice will make me a better photographer and the relaxation would probably do me some good too.
